I figured I should start looking for covers in the Million Song Dataset. The first attempt is simply to look at the most common song titles.
Is it promising? hummm... I let you decide. Below is the list of the 30 most common titles, with the number of tracks from the dataset. I still think it is a good place to start, but that will be a lot of 'Summertime' tracks to check to see if it's the Gershwin version! Thank you, 7digital!
